When you're sad, my Little Star, go out of doors. It's always better underneath the open sky.

About This Quote

This quote is a very sweet and lovely poem. The author is telling the little boy to go out and play with his friends and to look up at the sky and see the beauty and wonder of the universe. The open sky is a good metaphor for something we often take for granted. We look up at the sky and we think, "Oh, it's just blue." Well, there's actually a whole lot more going on in that sky than just blue.

And as we learn about those other things, they become beautiful as well. This is beauty that we can see every day, if we want to look for it.
